The Result
The design that resulted is unique. It could be fitted to existing staircases of any pitch, was efficient, classic in looks, cheap, vandal proof and above all deliverable. The result was a ramp that:
- Has a profile enabling the track to be fitted to one or other side of the staircase, out of the way of pedestrian flows and up against the side wall.
- Has a track profile enabling the bicycle to be leaned whilst in motion so enabling one hand to be used if carrying a bag.
- Has on/off ramps which are not obstructive to pedestrians.
- Has on/off ramps and a track bracket designed to enable the ramp to suit any staircase pitch.
- Will be made of a heavy duty PVC which has no scrap value, is fire retardant, is easy to fit and coloured to be highly visible.
- Will have a 'textured surface' for grip for the ascending movement - this will be a sponsors (licencee) name in soft PVC plastic enables the ramp to be fitted free so long as this branding is acceptable to the recipient location.
